James Van Der Beek returns to primetime in a very different role from the high-school kid that made him a teen idol on Dawson’s Creek.
On NBC’s Mercy, Van Der Beek plays Dr. Joe Briggs, the hospital’s arrogant newest chief who shakes up the ICU with his in-your-face style. Van Der Beek told Parade.com’s Jeanne Wolf why he was thrilled that his TV medical drama persona is not his own.
